In the Spring of 2016, Catfish Charlie's met local Commercial Fisherman and River Rat, Wendell. It was through Wendell that Spring that Catfish Charlie's bought and served our first Mississippi River (MR) locally caught Catfish. Throughout the Spring, Summer, and Fall of 2016, Wendell began teaching Charlie and his two sons, Isaac and Frank, the ropes of commercially fishing the Mississippi River. Not only did Charlie and his boys quickly take interest in learning the trade, they became passionate about it. The popularity of the locally caught fish was in demand, once introduced to the Catfish Charlie's Feature Menu. Chef Tony was quick to begin trying all sorts spins on fish dishes. In 2017, Catfish Charlie's purchased a customized flat bottom boat made just down stream at Clark Boats in Bellevue, Iowa. Today, Wendell, Keith, Charlie, Charlie's sons, and a few 'willing to learn kiddos' comprise Catfish Charlie's Commercial Fishing Crew. This Crew provides Catfish Charlie's with lots of Mississippi River Catfish, Carp, and Sheephead.
